Job summary

DHL Global Forwarding in Los Angeles, CA, is seeking a Regional Human Resources Director for the West region to lead HR strategy, policies, and programs across the defined organization. You will align HR activities to business needs, attract and retain talent, and provide day-to-day support to managers and employees.

The role requires strong California employment law knowledge, experience partnering with senior leaders, and proven change leadership in a complex, multi-state environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 8+ years of human resources experience.
  • Experience partnering with senior and executive management in multi-state environments.
  • Strong knowledge of California employment law and HR compliance.
  • Proven ability to lead a small to medium HR team and drive organizational change.
  • Experience managing union relationships is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development and deployment of HR plans and policies aligned with business needs.
  • Provide day-to-day HR support to attract, manage, develop, motivate and retain employees.
  • Consult managers on HR matters with a balanced focus on strategic and operational activities.
  • Oversee vendor relationships and service levels for HR services (e.g. payroll).
  • Ensure compliance with statutory regulations and internal/external best practices.
  • Monitor execution of HR plans and mitigate risks to successful deployment.

As a Regional Human Resources Director, you will provide input to and lead implementation of HR plans and policies for a defined organization by aligning HR activities to business needs and providing day-to-day HR support to attract, manage, develop, motivate and retain employees to achieve business objectives in line with business needs, HR strategy, industry best practices and current legislation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide input to and lead implementation of HR plans and policies to translate current/ future business needs and challenges into effective HR plans for a defined organization
  • Implement HR plans and policies for the defined organization to build a culture that encourages high performance and retention of talent
  • Guide and consult business Managers on HR matters drawing on specialists or Team members as needed with a balanced focus on strategic and operational HR activities
  • Support business growth or transformation/ change agenda ensuring advise and building organizational capability
  • Lead and deliver key HR activities either through own teams or centers of expertise and Provide HR service portfolio to defined organization
  • Ensure process improvement and modify/ adapt HR processes to better suit the needs of defined organization
  • Develop and Implement HR policies that comply with statutory regulations and are consistent with internal and external best practices
  • Manage vendor / service relationship and service level agreements with specific business unit/ partner for range of HR services (e.g. outsourced payroll)
  • Ensure process improvement and modify/ adapt HR processes to better suit the needs of defined organization
  • Develop and implement HR policies that comply with statutory regulations and are consistent with internal and external best practices
  • Monitor deployment of the HR plans and achievement of sub-functional goals to enhance efficiencies and effectiveness
  • Anticipate, identify and resolve risks or issues to lead successful deployment of HR plans and policies
Skills / Requirements:
  • 8+ years of human resources experience
  • Previous experience partnering and influencing senior & executive level management in a complex environment e.g. multi-state/customers
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in HR is strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated experience leading a small to medium size team
  • Strong knowledge of California employment law and HR compliance requirements
  • Proven experience of leading deployment of complex organizational change projects
  • Experience managing union relationships, including active involvement in collective bargaining, contract administration, and resolving labor relations matters in a unionized environment is strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • PHR / SPHR certification is a plus
  • Experience working in the logistics/freight forwarding industry is a plus
  • Bi-lingual is a plus

Pay Range: $141,831.00 - $189,108.00+ (Based on Experience)

  • Compensation:Competitive base salary plus role dependent performance-based incentives.
