Job summary

Greenshaw Learning Trust is seeking an experienced Regional HR Partner to advise Headteachers and senior leaders across Sutton and Croydon. You will provide expert employment law and employee relations guidance, support complex casework, and help leaders with recruitment, workforce planning and organisational change.

You'll line manage School HR Leads, contribute to Trust-wide projects, analyse HR metrics, and promote consistent, compliant people practices as GLT grows.

Qualifications

  • Substantial experience in a senior or generalist HR role.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law and experience applying it in complex situations.
  • Experience of managing complex employee relations and organisational change.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to balance competing priorities across a varied organisation.
  • Experience coaching and supporting managers to develop their people management skills.
  • CIPD Level 5 or Chartered CIPD membership or working towards it.
  • Current driving licence and access to a car for travel to GLT schools.

Responsibilities

  • Providing expert advice on employment law, employee relations and people management.
  • Supporting complex casework including disciplinary, grievance, capability, absence, restructures, redundancy and TUPE.
  • Advising Headteachers on recruitment, workforce planning and effective recruitment and selection.
  • Leading and supporting formal HR meetings and helping managers build their confidence and capability.
  • Line managing School HR Leads and supporting their development.
  • Supporting the integration of new schools into GLT, including HR due diligence and TUPE.
  • Working with colleagues on HR projects, policies, reporting and workforce data.
  • Using HR metrics and workforce information to identify trends and support effective decision-making.
  • Providing guidance on payroll, pensions and other employment-related matters.
  • Helping to ensure that HR practice is consistent, compliant and effective across the Trust.

Job description

This is a role for an HR professional who enjoys being trusted to provide expert advice, build strong relationships and find practical solutions to complex people issues. You'll work closely with Headteachers, senior leaders and School HR Leads, providing professional advice across the full range of HR and employee relations matters. You'll also work alongside our central HR team on Trust-wide projects, helping us develop consistent, effective and forward-thinking people practices as GLT continues to grow.What will you be doing? You'll be the professional HR Partner to a group of GLT schools across the Sutton and Croydon area, supporting leaders with everything from day-to-day people matters through to complex employee relations cases and organisational change. Your work will include:

  • Providing expert advice on employment law, employee relations and people management.
  • Supporting complex casework including disciplinary, grievance, capability, absence, restructures, redundancy and TUPE.
  • Advising Headteachers on recruitment, workforce planning and effective recruitment and selection.

  • You'll be part of a collaborative shared services HR team comprising HR professionals across regional HR, employee relations, HR systems, recruitment and people development. You'll have the opportunity to share ideas, learn from colleagues and contribute to work that has an impact well beyond your own group of schools.

    We're looking for an experienced HR professional with strong employment law and employee relations knowledge and the confidence to advise and challenge senior leaders when needed. You'll need:

  • CIPD Level 5 or equivalent, with Chartered CIPD membership or equivalent status, or working towards it.
  • A current driving licence and access to a car, as regular travel to GLT schools will be required.
