Overview

The Regional Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Advisor is responsible for ensuring compliance of and providing support to Centerline Health, Safety, and Environmental Programs.

Responsibilities

1. Ensure that all marine operations are conducted with due regard to the Health, Safety, and Environmental programs.
2. Monitor all marine activities and operations related to HSE matters.
3. Ensure implementation and adherence to the requirements of the Safety Management System.
4. Liaise with company personnel regarding HSE issues.
5. Perform safety inspections and visits aboard vessels and regional facilities.
6. Assist in conducting ISM Audits onboard company equipment and facilities.
7. Assist Regional Operations in HSE new hire orientations.
8. Assist in coordinating and executing company training seminars, safety meetings, and drills.
9. Assist in maintaining regional compliance with all Local, State, and Federal Regulations.
10. Advise vessel crews and field staff on all HSE related matters and areas for improvement.
11. Advise the CLL Safety Team on HSE related items and areas for improvement.
12. Assist in new project development as requested.
13. Perform incident investigations.
14. Assist in management of company safety program.
15. Promote accident & spill free operations in the workforce.
16. Serve as a member of the Regional Emergency Response team and respond to company reported incidents according to company policy.
17. Support the Director of HSE on regional incident investigations.
18. Research regulatory information.
19. Assist in the training and professional skill and safety development of marine personnel.
20. Help improve the safety record of vessels and crews.
21. Assist in the development of company operating procedures.
22. Support regional TMSA activities.
23. Support regional external audits.
24. Support SIRE Program as necessary.
25. Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned by the Senior Vice President and Director HSE as well as those assigned by the regional administrator.

Qualifications

1. Experience in the maritime industry.
2. Ability to deal with others using courtesy, tact, and good judgment.
3. Maintain the confidentiality of all sensitive communications.
4. Ability to work independently with minimal or no guidance.
5. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
6. Valid State driver’s license.
7. Must obtain TWIC within 90 days of hire date.
8. Must be able to read, speak, write, type, and understand English in person and over telephone.

Job Condition and Environment

1. Required to board tugs, barges, and ships, at dock or at anchor in all weather conditions and at all hours.
2. Exposure to all weather conditions (rain, ice, snow, heat, wind, heavy seas, etc.).

Expected Hours of Work

1. Normal work hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
2. 24-hour and 7-day a week availability for emergency calls on a designated call schedule.
