Job description

Now hiring! Regional Head of Product Development - Vegetable Seeds

We are seeking a Regional Head of Product Development to join our Agricultural Solutions team in Vegetable Seeds. This is a remote role within the US, preferably based in California, but open to other locations.

BASF’s Agricultural Solutions division connects innovation, customers, partners, and agricultural experts, integrating sustainability into all business decisions. We support farmers in achieving optimal outcomes by balancing economic, environmental, and social values for sustainable agriculture.

As the Regional Head of Product Development, you will lead and coach a customer-focused Product Development team, ensuring the implementation of crop strategies. You will facilitate communication with Breeding and Marketing & Sales to support product launches and enhance customer satisfaction. Your responsibilities include optimizing data-driven variety evaluations and fostering innovation and digitalization within the region.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Driving excellence and digitalization in product development within the region.
  • Serving as a liaison between departments such as M&S, R&D, Operations, IT, and Digital Farming.
  • Aligning and implementing PD policies, procedures, and systems across crops and divisions.
  • Designing and organizing training for the PD team and promoting best practice sharing.
  • Managing personnel, including hiring, performance evaluations, development, and coaching.
  • Allocating resources and managing budgets to support crop strategies efficiently.

Qualifications:

  • BSc in Agriculture/Agronomy or equivalent; MSc preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in the vegetable seeds industry.
  • At least 5 years of product development experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of managerial experience.
  • Strong leadership and coaching skills, with experience managing virtual teams.
  • Experience in Breeding, Marketing, Sales, and Digitalization is a plus.
  • Change management experience is preferred.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel 30-40%, including domestic and international travel.

Pay Transparency:

The pay range for this role is $134,400 - $184,800, determined by experience and qualifications.
