Job summary

UF Health Central Florida is seeking a full-time Gastroenterologist to join the UF Health Regional Network serving Lake, Sumter and Marion counties. You will provide comprehensive patient care, perform evaluations, procedures and coordinate with the care team.

The position requires Florida medical licensure, board certification or eligibility in gastroenterology, and DEA certification. Candidates with residency completion substitution may qualify; commensurate with education and experience.

Qualifications

• Florida license to practice medicine.
• Board certified or eligible in gastroenterology.
• DEA certification required.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with pharmacists, NPs and nursing staff.
• Review incoming reports and follow up promptly.
• Prescribe medications and treatment regimens as appropriate.
• Refer patients to specialists and to relevant patient care components.
• May manage the daily operations of a specific medical program or patient care unit.
• Direct and coordinate patient care activities of nursing and support staff.
• Follow established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives.
• Participate in health promotion and preventive programs.
• Participate in peer review, quality assurance, provider meetings and other clinical meetings.
• Assist in updating protocols and principles of practice.
