Food Service Director Responsibilities
- Identify and participate in process improvement initiatives that enhance the customer experience, workflow, and work environment.
- Manage duties including hiring, training, developing, coaching, counseling, and terminating department staff as necessary.
- Administer employment practices fairly and without discrimination, in accordance with applicable laws.
- Participate in department head meetings and interdisciplinary care plan meetings.
- Purchase food and supplies within budget, maintaining adequate stock for each meal.
- Provide guidance over diet planning, menu formulation, preparation, and service of diets.
- Plan menus in consultation with the Dietary Consultant to ensure compliance with nutritional standards and regulations.
- Interview residents or family members to obtain diet history when necessary.
- Maintain records of residents’ food preferences and dislikes.
- Ensure dietary progress notes are informative and descriptive of services and resident responses.
- Visit residents periodically to evaluate meal quality and resident satisfaction.
- Complete dietary documentation accurately, including MDS, Resident Care Planning, and other required forms.
- Provide nutritious, well-prepared, and timely meals adhering to menus and diet orders.
- Serve appropriate meals/snacks to residents with special dietary needs.
- Monitor food production, using standardized recipes and ensuring proper storage.
- Maintain high standards of food quality and timeliness of service.
