Job summary

Seneca Resources is seeking an experienced Fiber Splicer to support major telecommunications clients in the Phoenix, AZ area. This hands-on field role performs advanced fiber optic splicing, installation, testing, and troubleshooting for production and restoration work.

The ideal candidate has expertise in mass fusion splicing, OTDR testing, and fiber network diagnostics, and can work safely in diverse environments.

Qualifications

• 5+ years hands-on fiber optic splicing in active environments.
• 5+ years using OTDR and fusion splicing equipment for diagnostics.

Responsibilities

• Perform single-mode and multi-mode fiber splicing using fusion and mechanical splicers.
• Conduct OTDR testing and use Exfo FTB-1 or similar equipment for fiber characterization and troubleshooting.
• Install, prep, and seal closures (pressurized and non-pressurized).
• Read and interpret network prints, splice diagrams, and work instructions accurately.
• Troubleshoot and repair damaged or degraded fiber cases and network components.
• Collaborate with OSP engineers and project managers to ensure work quality and timelines.
• Maintain detailed records of splicing activities and test results.
• Adhere to safety standards and company protocols during field operations.

The ideal candidate has strong technical expertise in mass fusion splicing, OTDR testing, and fiber network diagnostics, with the ability to work safely and efficiently in a variety of environments. You’ll be joining a high-performance team supporting critical infrastructure for major service providers, including Verizon and Cox Communications.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform single-mode (SM) and multi-mode (MM) fiber optic splicing using fusion and mechanical splicers.
• Conduct OTDR testing and use Exfo FTB-1 or similar equipment for fiber characterization and troubleshooting.
• Install, prep, and seal both pressurized and non-pressurized closures.
• Read and interpret network prints, splice diagrams, and work instructions accurately.
• Troubleshoot and repair damaged or degraded fiber cases and network components.
• Collaborate with OSP engineers and project managers to ensure work quality and completion timelines.
• Maintain detailed and accurate records of splicing activities and test results.
• Adhere to safety standards and company protocols during all field operations.

Required Skills & Education

• 5+ years of hands-on experience performing fiber optic splicing in active OSP environments.
• 5+ years using OTDR and fusion splicing equipment for diagnostics and performance testing.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting network documentation and splice plans.
• Skilled in network troubleshooting, plant audits, and rehab of existing fiber infrastructure.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to work independently, manage workload, and deliver accurate production reports.
• Comfortable working in aerial lifts, confined spaces, and varying field conditions.

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years supporting major service providers (e.g., Verizon, Cox, AT&T).
• Experience with Exfo FTB-1 OTDR equipment.
• CFOT (Certified Fiber Optic Technician) certification.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail in high-volume production splicing environments.

Additional Details

• Schedule: Day shift (6:00–6:30 AM to 2:00–2:30 PM) or Night shift (11:00–11:30 PM to 6:00–6:30 AM).
• Travel: May require occasional overnight stays; per diem and hotel expenses covered.
• Requirements: Background check, drug test, and enrollment in license monitoring system.
• Vehicle: Company vehicle provided during working hours; may be retained for night shift roles.
