Job summary

Whataburger is seeking a Regional Facilities Maintenance Manager to lead maintenance across multiple restaurants within the region. This role will oversee safe, reliable facilities, manage capital projects, and partner with field teams to support ongoing success and growth.

You will travel frequently to partner with Operations, Real Estate, and vendors, while working from a home office when not on site. A strong background in facilities, project execution, and budgets is essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 6+ years of facilities, restaurant, hospitality, or multi-site experience.
  • Experience leading maintenance technicians, field teams, or skilled trades.
  • Strong knowledge of maintenance operations, capital planning, project execution.
  • Experience managing budgets, capital expenditures, vendors, and contractor relationships.
  • Proven ability to lead projects and influence cross-functional teams.
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication, coaching, and partnership-building skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and business systems.
  • Ability to travel and maintain a valid driver's license.

As a Regional Facilities Maintenance Manager, you'll lead maintenance operations across your region, ensuring safe, reliable, and high-performing facilities that support our Family Members and Guests every day. You'll develop maintenance professionals, oversee capital improvements, and drive maintenance strategies that strengthen restaurant performance and support long-term growth. Day-to-Day Ingredients — Responsibilities

As a Regional Facilities Maintenance Manager, you will:

  • Oversee maintenance operations to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable restaurant facilities.
  • Lead preventive and predictive maintenance programs across the region.
  • Manage capital projects including enhancements, rebuilds, and new unit openings end-to-end.

  • Conduct site visits to assess facility conditions, identify preventive maintenance opportunities, and support urgent 24/7 restaurant facility needs.
  • Lead vendor and contractor performance, ensuring quality, responsiveness, and compliance.
  • Hire, coach, and develop maintenance team members across the region.
  • Ensure completion of fire, safety, and regulatory inspections.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to successfully deliver maintenance and capital initiatives.

As a Regional Facilities Maintenance Manager, you must have:

  • 6-8+ years of experience in a restaurant or multi-unit environment.
  • Technical certifications (e.g., EPA, mechanical, or trade licensing).
  • Experience with preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Background in large-scale capital project planning and execution.
  • Experience coaching and developing technicians or field teams.
  • Familiarity with facility management or work order systems.
Where & How You’ll Work

This role is field-based, supporting restaurants across an assigned market or region. You’ll travel frequently to partner with Operations, provide on‑site support, and maintain strong relationships with leaders and teams in the field. When not traveling, you’ll work from your home office, balancing independent work with virtual collaboration to support ongoing business needs. Success in this role requires full‑time availability, flexibility to adjust to evolving operational priorities, and the ability to travel regularly—including day trips, overnight travel, and extended market visits. While most travel will occur within your assigned market or region, some out‑of‑market support may be required based on business needs. Candidates must reside within the region they support and be able to travel throughout that area as needed.
