Whataburger is seeking a Regional Facilities Maintenance Manager to lead maintenance operations across your region, ensuring safe, reliable restaurant facilities and strong equipment readiness. You will coach field teams, oversee capital projects, and partner with operations, real estate, and vendors to drive performance.

This field-based role requires travel, home-office work when not in the field, full-time availability, and a proven ability to manage budgets, schedules, and regulatory

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent required.
• 6+ years of facilities experience, restaurant/hospitality preferred.
• Experience leading maintenance technicians or field teams.
• Strong knowledge of maintenance operations, capital planning, and project execution.
• Experience managing budgets, vendors and contractor relationships.

As a Regional Facilities Maintenance Manager, you'll lead maintenance operations across your region, ensuring safe, reliable, and high-performing facilities that support our Family Members and Guests every day. As a Regional Facilities Maintenance Manager, you will:

• Oversee maintenance operations to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable restaurant facilities.
• Lead preventive and predictive maintenance programs across the region.
• Manage capital projects including enhancements, rebuilds, and new unit openings end-to-end.
• Partner with Brand Leaders to prioritize initiatives aligned with operational and strategic goals.
• Monitor budgets, capital expenditures, and maintenance spend to ensure fiscal accountability.
• Conduct site visits to assess facility conditions, identify preventive maintenance opportunities, and support urgent 24/7 restaurant facility needs.
• Lead vendor and contractor performance, ensuring quality, responsiveness, and compliance.
• Hire, coach, and develop maintenance team members across the region.
• Ensure completion of fire, safety, and regulatory inspections.
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners to successfully deliver maintenance and capital initiatives.
• Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, reliability, and restaurant performance.

What You Bring to the Table - Required Experience

As a Regional Facilities Maintenance Manager, you must have:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
• 6+ years of facilities, restaurant, hospitality, or similar multi-site experience.
• Experience leading maintenance technicians, field teams, or similar skilled trades professionals.
• Strong knowledge of maintenance operations, capital planning, and project execution.
• Experience managing budgets, capital expenditures, vendors, and contractor relationships.
• Proven ability to lead projects and influence cross-functional teams.
• Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills.
• Strong communication, coaching, and partnership-building skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and business systems.
• Ability to travel and maintain a valid driver’s license.

Extra Toppings - Desired Experience

As a Regional Facilities Maintenance Manager, we prefer you to have:

• 6-8+ years of experience in a restaurant or multi-unit environment.
• Technical certifications (e.g., EPA, mechanical, or trade licensing).
• Experience with preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
• Background in large-scale capital project planning and execution.
• Experience coaching and developing technicians or field teams.
• Familiarity with facility management or work order systems.

Where & How You'll Work

This role is field-based, supporting restaurants across an assigned market or region. You'll travel frequently to partner with Operations, provide on-site support, and maintain strong relationships with leaders and teams in the field. When not traveling, you'll work from your home office, balancing independent work with virtual collaboration to support ongoing business needs. Success in this role requires full-time availability, flexibility to adjust to evolving operational priorities, and the ability to travel regularly—including day trips, overnight travel, and extended market visits. While most travel will occur within your assigned market or region, some out-of-market support may be required based on business needs.

Candidates must reside within the region they support and be able to travel throughout that area as needed.
