Job Summary/Objective:

The Regional Executive Director is a senior leadership position focused on advancing Habitat for Humanity’s visibility, relationships, and strategic presence across the two-county service region. The role serves as a key external representative, building partnerships with community leaders, municipalities, donors, businesses, and other stakeholders to expand awareness, resources, and support for Habitat’s mission.

In addition, the Regional Executive Director serves as the primary Executive Director for Hernando County, providing visible community leadership, representation, and relationship management for that county while supporting regional alignment across both counties.

This position works closely with the President & CEO, executive leadership team, Board of Directors, Development team, Homeowner Services leadership, and community stakeholders to advance organizational priorities, strengthen Habitat’s external network, and connect community opportunities with the appropriate internal teams.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position provides leadership and coordination for the assigned region, with direct supervisory responsibilities as designated by the organization. Programmatic execution and day-to-day Homeowner Services operations are led by Homeowner Services leadership.

Duties/Responsibilities:
Leadership & Management
  • Provide regional leadership and serve as a visible, credible representative of Habitat’s mission, priorities, and impact.
  • Build alignment among executive leadership, county-based stakeholders, and internal teams around regional opportunities and community needs.
  • Maintain clear communication, sound judgment, and appropriate follow-through when connecting external commitments and opportunities to internal owners.
Program Alignment & Internal Coordination
  • Partner with Homeowner Services leadership to ensure community outreach, referral relationships, and external messaging support organizational priorities and homeowner pipeline needs.
  • Bring forward community feedback, partnership opportunities, and emerging regional needs to the appropriate internal leaders for evaluation and execution.
  • Support cross-functional coordination when external commitments require involvement from Homeowner Services, Development, Construction, Government Relations, Communications, or other teams.
  • Monitor high-level regional indicators and stakeholder feedback to help leadership identify opportunities, risks, and areas requiring organizational attention.
  • Maintain clear boundaries between external relationship leadership and the day-to-day programmatic execution owned by functional leaders.
County-Specific Executive Leadership (Primary County)
  • Serve as the Executive Director and senior organizational representative for the assigned primary county.
  • Act as a visible ambassador for Habitat’s mission by building and maintaining strong relationships with community leaders, municipalities, donors, corporate partners, and key stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen Habitat’s presence, partnerships, and impact within the county.
  • Collaborate with the President & CEO and Development team to support fundraising, donor engagement, and community investment opportunities within the county.
  • In collaboration with the President & CEO, assist in the recruitment and formation of a Hernando Leadership Council composed of community members who advocate for the organization, promote awareness of its mission, and help engage additional stakeholders. The Council meets approximately 6–8 times annually.
Strategic Planning & Organizational Alignment
  • Partner with the President & CEO and executive leadership team to advance regional and organizational strategic priorities through external relationships and community engagement.
  • Identify regional trends, stakeholder needs, and partnership opportunities that may inform organizational strategy and growth.
  • Represent organizational priorities consistently and ensure external commitments are aligned with Habitat’s mission, values, capacity, and long-term objectives.
Community Outreach & Homeowner Pipeline
  • Expand awareness of Habitat’s mission and homeownership opportunities through community presentations, events, partnerships, and strategic outreach.
  • Build and maintain relationships with employers, nonprofits, referral agencies, faith communities, and other partners that can connect qualified households to Habitat.
  • Coordinate with Homeowner Services leadership to ensure outreach priorities and external messaging remain accurate, compliant, and responsive to pipeline needs.
  • Promote broad and equitable community awareness of available opportunities while directing program-specific questions and execution to the appropriate internal team.
Fundraising & Resource Development
  • Partner closely with the President & CEO and Development team to plan, execute, and monitor fundraising strategies, donor engagement activities, and performance.
  • Support and participate in major gift cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities, including donor meetings, presentations, and site visits.
  • Identify new funding opportunities and strategic partnerships that support program sustainability and regional growth.
