Job summary

National Heritage Academies is seeking a Regional English Language Learner (ELL) Teacher for a split schedule across Orion Academy (20 hours) and Alliance Academy of Cincinnati (10 hours). The role delivers English language development instruction and collaborates with EL/ML staff to support multilingual students.

Responsibilities include planning lessons, assessing progress, documenting compliance, and attending professional development, with after-school conferences as needed.

Qualifications

• Candidates should preferably hold a PK-12 TESOL endorsement.
• Minimally, candidates must hold a PK-12 TESOL Endorsement within 2 years and possess a license type listed above.

Job Description

Summary:

The English Language (EL) teacher provides English language development instruction to children who are acquiring English as an additional language. The EL Teacher works collaboratively with other school-based instructional personnel to meet the individual needs of each English Learner (EL)/Multilingual Learner (ML) child. Required activities include planning and delivering lessons, collaborating with classroom teachers and specialists, administering formative and summative assessments to measure language progress, completing documentation required for compliance with state and federal guidelines, and attending regular Professional Development.

National Heritage Academies (NHA) partner schools seek to grow and empower our teachers by providing ample opportunities to learn together and from each other. A few of the ways we do this include Regional Professional Learning events that embed instructional growth with networking opportunities and monthly virtual EL specific professional learning sessions. Each EL Teacher meets regularly with the Dean of EL Program Services to receive coaching and development. Each school is supported by a dedicated EL Curriculum Specialist to provide targeted EL instructional coaching.

This role is scheduled for 20 hours at Orion Academy and 10 hours at Alliance Academy of Cincinnati.

Qualifications:

Candidates for English Language (EL) Teacher positions should preferably hold a Professional, Supplemental, or RE License type with a PK-12 TESOL endorsement. Minimally, candidates for this position must hold a license type listed above and obtain a PK-12 TESOL Endorsement within 2 years.

Demonstrates knowledge of first and second language acquisition theory, second language learning patterns, and best practices in English language development.

Reflects an awareness and acceptance of cultural differences exhibited by the students and their families.

Possesses those characteristics necessary for acting as an advocate for multilingual families within the school.

Read, analyze, and interpret student academic data.

Demonstrates the ability to effectively communicate with classroom teachers, administration, and families.
