Job Description

The Regional Manager, Employee Relations, represents management at local and area levels to maintain good labor relations among employee bargaining units. Responsibilities include administering the contract grievance machinery, departmental policies, serving as a negotiator for labor contracts, and staffing grievance committees.

Responsibilities

  1. Maintain a positive attitude in a highly intense environment.
  2. Negotiate with labor union representatives on behalf of ABF and multi-employer bargaining units.
  3. Meet with bargaining unit employees, advise, recommend operating procedures, and assist in operational changes.
  4. Work collaboratively to achieve department goals.
  5. Serve as a panel member on joint labor management grievance panels/committees.
  6. Analyze, investigate, discuss, and propose resolutions for grievances submitted by bargaining unit employees. Present arguments to grievance committees when necessary.
  7. Educate and counsel management on labor contracts and department policies.
  8. Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
  9. Establish and maintain rapport with union officials and representatives of other companies.
  10. Administer department policies.
  11. Handle labor contract compliance, including grievance settlements.
  12. Investigate and respond to National Labor Relations Board charges and assist attorneys in litigation.
