Job summary

East-West Gateway Council of Governments (EWG) in St. Louis is seeking an Emergency Preparedness Coordinator II to support the STARRS program. You will assist with implementing and managing homeland security initiatives, including federal grant programs and regional planning for emergency response.

The role requires knowledge of emergency management, THIRA, HSEEP, and strong oral and written communication. A bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least three years of experience are

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in emergency management, emergency planning and response, or related field is required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience; advanced degree may substitute 1 year of experience.
  • Knowledge of THIRA/HSEEP and NIMS is preferred; strong written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with implementation and ongoing management of homeland security programs and regional planning.
  • Coordinate and participate in emergency preparedness training and exercises in the region.
  • Support grant-funded projects and maintain relationships with STARRS sub-committees and regional workgroups.
