Job summary

San Antonio Express-News is seeking a Regional Editor to oversee reporters covering expansion areas around San Antonio, including Austin, Fredericksburg, New Braunfels and San Marcos, and to report and write stories in these regions as part of MySA’s broader coverage expansion.

You will implement the content strategy, assign stories, edit submissions for style and accuracy, and cultivate a creative partnership with reporters to produce timely, compelling journalism that drives traffic while

Qualifications

• At least two years’ experience as an editor.
• At least two years’ experience as a reporter.
• Bachelor’s degree.

Responsibilities

• Execute the content strategy and manage the work of reporters covering expansion areas. This includes spotting timely stories that work for a digital-first MySA audience, assigning stories and videos, helping reporters generate ideas, working with them to refine those ideas, and editing their stories for both style and accuracy.
• Write and report timely, compelling, and traffic-driving stories and videos as needed.
