Job summary

Tetra Tech in Houston is seeking a Regional Drainage Manager to lead stormwater and hydraulic/hydrologic projects for municipal, county, and water district clients across Texas. You will mentor junior engineers, guide technically, coordinate with project managers and clients, develop models and reports, and help grow the national Stormwater practice while communicating complex findings clearly.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or related Engineering field.
  • PE license preferred or ability to obtain through reciprocity.
  • 15+ years in stormwater engineering and hydraulic/hydrologic modeling.
  • Experience with multiple hydraulic/hydrologic tools and municipal projects.
  • Strong communication of technical concepts to diverse audiences.

Your Role:
  • Serve as a senior technical leader for stormwater and hydraulic/hydrologic (H&H) modeling projects supporting municipal, county, state, and water district clients throughout Texas.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineering staff and support collaboration across multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Coordinate with project managers, technical experts, and clients to support successful project execution, technical delivery, and client communication.
  • Develop and review hydraulic models, technical calculations, analyses, and reports in accordance with Tetra Tech and client standards.
  • Communicate technical findings and recommendations effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Utilize hydraulic modeling software such as InfoWorks ICM, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, XPSWMM, PCSWMM, EPA SWMM, ICPR, FLO-2D, InfoWorks WS Pro, OpenRoads DU, or comparable platforms.
  • Contribute and grow into leading proposal development activities including scopes of work, schedules, level-of-effort estimates, and participation in client interviews.
  • Support staffing coordination, recruiting efforts, and technical growth initiatives within the H&H modeling practice.
  • Contribute to innovation initiatives, technical working groups, internal knowledge sharing, and industry engagement opportunities including conference presentations and abstract submissions.
  • Grow into leader for Tetra Tech national Stormwater practice.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or related Engineering field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or ability to obtain through reciprocity.
  • 15+ years of experience in stormwater engineering, hydraulic/hydrologic modeling, drainage planning, and water resources engineering.
  • Valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
  • Experience with hydraulic and hydrologic modeling software such as InfoWorks ICM, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, XPSWMM, PCSWMM, EPA SWMM, ICPR, FLO-2D, InfoWorks WS Pro, OpenRoads DU, or comparable platforms.
  • Experience preparing technical reports, hydraulic analyses, and engineering documentation for municipal infrastructure projects.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively to clients, project teams, and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience coordinating with clients, project managers, and technical teams in a consulting environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and support project delivery schedules.
  • Proven ability to mentor engineers and contribute to the technical growth of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience working with Texas municipal clients, counties, flood control agencies, or transportation agencies is highly desirable.
  • Interest or experience in sustainable infrastructure, green stormwater infrastructure, resilience planning, or Envision is a plus.
  • Ability to interpret model results and develop practical engineering recommendations and conceptual or final design solutions.
  • Experience preparing and reviewing technical reports, engineering calculations, drainage studies, and planning documents.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Interest in building client relationships and supporting business development activities.
