    As Regional Director of Engineering you are responsible for providing leadership and guidance to aide field personnel in maintaining all equipment, systems and building components. Including but not limited to mechanical, electrical systems, pumps, HVAC/ refrigeration, plumbing, locks, life safety and other equipment normally associated with hotel maintenance and maintenance procedures.

    This a remote role combined with 75% of travel. The Regional Director of Engineering will be responsible for hotels located in the Midwest to West Coast Region. Preferred candidates will reside in in Central/West Coast areas (TX, AZ, OK, WY, etc.) within an hour of a metropolitan airport.

    Essential functions:

    • Assist with the training of property level Area Chief/Chief Engineer to ensure they carry out duties effectively
    • Educate and train property level engineers on current safety protocols to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and safety regulations ex: lock out tag out, Red tag system
    • Monitor the execution and achievement of the hotel’s preventative maintenance program goals through communication and Quore electronic PM Software
    • Provides guidelines and assistance on reduction in energy usage through training and focusing on best practice directives
    • Assist in setting procedures to ensure the security of inventory and assets such as tools, basic supplies, TV’s, and standard FF&E within hotel
    • Establish guidelines for the replenishment of necessary basic engineering supplies in an efficient manner
    • Promote and enforce organized paperwork management by property engineering staff. Ensure all electronic PM logs are kept current
    • Follow up on life safety inspections to track completion and follow up on deficiencies, ensure proper documentation readily available
    • Provide operations team front line support in time of emergencies- mechanical or natural disaster situations
    • Ensure properties have written guidelines in place detailing procedures engineering staff will implement during times of emergency situations
    • Perform property engineering audits twice per year through Quore system
    • Lead the management of special capital projects such as major mechanical replacements
    • Report on all relevant property issues and projects bi-weekly to corporate engineering team
    • Assist property in securing and reviewing competitive bids for capital projects through PHM preferred vendors and local vendors
    • Assist staff to properly catalog all property mechanical equipment with location, origination date, make, model and known repairs within Quore PM software
    • Assist Regional Director of Operations and Hotel General Managers within an assigned region on annual property level staffing and budgeting to ensure proper maintenance of the hotel asset
    • Assist with the interviewing and selection of Area Chief Engineers and Property Level Chief Engineers, ensuring they meet the requirements with established brand or hotel standards and consistent with PHM core values
    • Assist staff to compile electronic property folder of equipment and building system warranties.
    • Inform Corporate Engineering leadership of recommendations for asset preservation of major mechanical repair/replacement during budget process
    • Provided input to RDO/GM on performance of engineering staff during property visits
    • Practice and promote safe work habits
    • Additional responsibilities as required by executive management.

    Education & experience:

    • High School diploma and/or trade school course work in related field required
    • Certification in one or more of the following trades preferred- HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Project Management required
    • Five years (or more) Director of Engineering or management level engineering and maintenance experience in hospitality and/or related field (commercial property/residence, health care, etc.), multi-property experience preferred
    • Exceptional leadership skills, hospitality industry standards for employee/guest interaction and professionalism are expected
    • Superior written and verbal communication skills
    • Valid Driver’s License

    Work environment:

    • Extensive travel required (75%)
    • Work schedule varies and may include working on holidays and weekends or alternate shifts.
    • Requires standing for extended periods, walking, pushing, lifting up to 50 pounds, bending and reaching, climbing, stooping, kneeling or crouching.
