Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or professional designation preferred.
  • 10+ years in wealth management or financial services.
  • 5+ years in a leadership role with accountability for revenue or business performance.
  • Demonstrated experience leading advisor teams and driving growth outcomes.
  • Strong understanding of advisor business models, practice management, and client experience.

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of Managing Directors and Financial Advisors.

Compensation: $220,000 to $225,000 base, plus incentive compensation based on regional performance

Travel: ~50%, with periods of heavier travel

THE OPPORTUNITY

Harrison Gray Search is partnering with a nationally recognized, fee-only, majority employee-owned RIA to identify a Regional Director, Advisory to lead a growing multi-state region. Our client integrates investment management, financial planning, tax, and estate planning under one platform and operates coast-to-coast with meaningful scale. This is a highly visible senior leadership role with direct P&L ownership, accountability for advisor outcomes across the region, and significant influence on how the firm continues to grow and evolve.

ROLE OVERVIEW

The Regional Director is the senior business leader for an assigned region, responsible for driving advisor and business performance, supporting growth, and ensuring a consistent, high-quality client and advisor experience. This role sits at the center of the advisory organization, partnering closely with senior advisory leadership, other Regional Directors, and cross-functional teams to translate firm strategy into execution, develop advisor talent, and scale best practices across the region.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Advisor Leadership & Development
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of Managing Directors and Financial Advisors
  • Drive advisor effectiveness, accountability, and performance across the region
  • Support onboarding and integration of new advisors and partner firms
  • Provide ongoing coaching tied to behaviors that drive growth and client outcomes
Business Growth & Performance
  • Own regional P&L and deliver on revenue and growth targets
  • Develop and execute organic growth strategies aligned to firm objectives
  • Monitor KPIs and performance metrics; identify trends and implement adjustments
  • Partner with advisors to support business development and client acquisition efforts
Practice & Operational Excellence
  • Ensure consistent adoption of the firm’s advisory playbook, processes, and tools
  • Facilitate best practice sharing across teams and regions
  • Work closely with internal partners (Marketing, Investment Research, Tax & Consulting) to enhance the client experience
  • Support advisor training, development programs, and regional events
Talent & Organizational Leadership
  • Build and maintain a strong talent pipeline in partnership with Talent Acquisition
  • Hire, develop, and retain high-performing advisor talent
  • Drive team capacity planning, staffing strategy, and succession planning
  • Champion the firm’s culture, values, and leadership expectations
  • Lead through growth and change, including acquisition integration and organizational evolution
  • Effectively communicate and implement new initiatives, programs, and strategic priorities
  • Serve as a trusted partner to advisors and leaders navigating change
REGION AND LOCATION

This Regional Director will lead advisors in Arizona, New Mexico, and California, expanding over time to include Colorado, Washington, and Oregon. The role can be based in the Central or Western U.S., with flexibility to work from any state where the firm currently has an office or established team presence. Travel required to support regional teams, advisor engagement, and firm initiatives, averaging around 50% of the time with some periods of heavier travel.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or professional designation (CFP® or similar) preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in wealth management or financial services
  • 5+ years in a leadership role with accountability for revenue or business performance
  • Demonstrated experience leading advisor teams and driving growth outcomes
  • Strong understanding of advisor business models, practice management, and client experience
  • Experience working within a multi-location or highly distributed organization

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
  • Base salary of $220,000 to $225,000, with final pay determined by experience, skills, and location
