Regional Critical Student Intervention Coach

Special Programs

Role Mission

The Regional Critical Student Intervention Coach will oversee intervention efforts for IDEA Public Schools to ensure maximum student achievement and close the achievement gap for critical students by designing, training, and coaching the implementation of processes. The coach will collaborate with national partners to design, implement, facilitate training, provide coaching, and ensure the fidelity of the Critical Student Intervention (CSI) program across the district.

Location and Travel

This is a full-time onsite position based in Austin. Preference will be given to candidates residing in the region or willing to relocate. Travel expectations are 50%-70% within the region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead effective CSI DI instruction through data analysis, feedback, observations, and coaching (20%)
  • Facilitate weekly data analysis calls and provide next steps (20%)
  • Conduct in-field observations and support to school leaders (40%)
  • Participate in regional and national meetings (5%)
  • Manage regional systems for CSI, including testing and placement (10%)
  • Design and facilitate CSI training for teachers and leaders (5%)
Additional Duties
  • Recommend student grouping based on test results
  • Use newsletters for communication
  • Collaborate on training design and rollout
  • Define registration and enrollment processes
  • Troubleshoot issues with school leaders
  • Procure and communicate DI materials
Required Skills and Experience
  • Designing and delivering professional development
  • Strong communication and coordination skills
  • Experience coaching leaders and teachers
  • Knowledge of Corrective Reading Decoding and CSI Direct Instruction programs
  • Special Education Certification
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred
  • 1-3 years of intervention experience

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to move over uneven terrain, drive, travel between schools, sit/stand for long periods, lift up to 15 lbs
Compensation & Benefits

Salaries typically range from $78,900 to $92,000, commensurate with experience. Benefits include health plans, disability, life insurance, parental benefits, flexible spending, vacation, bonuses, professional development, and a 403(b) plan. More info at IDEA Benefits.
