Job summary

Irby Construction Company, a Quanta Services subsidiary, seeks an experienced Regional Controller to lead the steel division's accounting functions in Texas. This role handles job costing, billing, forecasting, budgeting, and close processes, guiding staff and interfacing with corporate finance.

You will ensure GAAP compliance, implement internal controls, and support audits while partnering with regional operations and project managers to deliver timely, accurate financial results.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Minimum five years of progressive accounting experience.
• Experience supervising accounting staff.
• CPA license or candidate preferred.
• Experience in construction or utilities industry preferred.
• Solid knowledge of GAAP and job costing/percentage-of-completion.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day accounting operations for steel division, including job cost, billing, and monthly reporting.
• Supervise project accountants and staff; participate in hiring and performance reviews.
• Serve as liaison between regional operations and corporate finance.
• Oversee job setup, budget loading, and change orders for projects.
• Review WIP schedules and cost-to-complete projections with PMs.
• Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
• Lead forecast preparation for revenue, margin, and operating expenses.
• Ensure timely invoicing and collections per contract terms.
• Maintain internal controls and GAAP compliance; support audits.
• Provide technical accounting guidance to project teams; train on costing and procedures.
• Collaborate on system/process improvements (JD Edwards/Oracle, Hyperion, EcoSys).
• Travel to project sites and offices as needed.
