Responsibilities

• Lead monthly close process, journal entries, reconciliations and reporting.
• Analyze profitability, costs, labor, disposal, fleet and key metrics across divisions.
• Partner with operations to improve margins and EBITDA.
• Develop and manage annual operating and capital budgets and forecasts.
• Monitor cash flow, trends, ROI and operating performance.
• Review customer profitability, pricing, municipal contracts and revenue opportunities.
• Oversee regional accounting activities: GL, AR, AP, payroll, fixed assets, reporting.
• Ensure GAAP compliance, controls and regulatory reporting.
• Prepare executive financial presentations and performance reporting.
• Support M&A due diligence, modeling, pro forma, and integration.

Regional Controller - Waste & Recycling Industry - SE Florida - West Palm Beach

Our client is seeking an experienced Regional Controller with a strong background in the solid waste, recycling, environmental services, or waste hauling industry to provide financial leadership and strategic business support across multiple operating divisions within the Southeast Florida region. Will serve as the primary financial business partner to the Regional VP, Division Managers, and Corporate Leadership.

Responsibilities include:

• Lead the monthly financial close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, financial statements, and management reporting.
• Analyze operating performance, profitability, productivity, labor costs, disposal expenses, fleet costs, and key financial metrics across multiple divisions.
• Partner with operational leadership to improve margins, reduce costs, maximize EBITDA, and identify opportunities for increased profitability.
• Develop and manage annual operating budgets, capital budgets, and financial forecasts.
• Monitor financial trends, variances, cash flow, return on investment, and operating performance.
• Review customer profitability, pricing strategies, franchise fees, municipal contracts, and revenue opportunities.
• Support capital expenditure planning and fixed asset management.
• Oversee regional accounting activities, including General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll, Fixed Assets, and financial reporting.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, corporate policies, internal controls, and regulatory reporting requirements.
• Prepare executive-level financial presentations and performance reporting.
• Provide financial support for mergers and acquisitions, including due diligence, financial modeling, pro forma development, and post-acquisition integration.
• Develop financial reporting tools that provide meaningful operational insight.
• Lead, mentor, and develop regional accounting personnel while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, strengthen internal controls, and enhance operational efficiency.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting and financial leadership experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of Controller or Regional Controller experience within the waste, recycling, or environmental services industry.
• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting.
• Demonstrated ability to partner with operations and executive leadership.
• Exceptional analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong leadership, communication, and presentation skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, multi-location environment.
