Job summary

The Department of Social Services - Division of Child Protection Services in Rapid City, SD is seeking a Deputy Regional Manager to lead HR functions, oversee staff development, and drive recruitment and retention strategies across several counties. The role includes ensuring policy compliance and coordinating regional operations with state-wide programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in social or behavioral sciences, human services, business administration, public administration, education, public health, or a related field.
• Comparable leadership experience in program or operations management may be considered in place of educational requirements, relevant experience in human resources or social services may also be taken into account.

Responsibilities

• Manage regional human resources functions.
• Lead employee training and onboarding programs.
• Work with regional supervisors to manage staff development and performance.
• Develop and lead recruitment and retention strategies.
• Lead and manage the hiring process to include interview and selection.
• Assist the Regional Manager with overall regional operations, strategic planning, and organizational goals.
• Ensure compliance with agency policies, procedures, and applicable law and regulations.
• Analyze regional data to identify trends, evaluate performance, and develop solutions.
• Approve and process misc. payments.
• Complete administrative due process.
• Provide supervision of support staff.
• Gather and monitor data to identify trends and solutions.
• Represent the region through occasional travel, public speaking, meetings, and community engagement.
