Southwestern University has an immediate opening for a Regional Assistant Director of Admission reporting to the Director of Admission. The Regional Assistant Director of Admission works both directly and indirectly in the recruitment of prospective students for Southwestern University and helps families navigate the college admission process–from college research process through the financial and enrollment steps. This position is tasked with enhancing our partnerships with high school counselors throughout the Houston-metro area and engaging students and families and families through collaborative events. This is a full-time exempt position eligible for our comprehensive benefits program.
- Plan, coordinate, implement and evaluate all phases of recruitment travel within the assigned geographic territory for visiting high schools and attending college fair programs, college boot camps and representing Southwestern University to students, parents, counselors, teachers, CBO and IECs and administrators.
- Represent the university as needed in areas beyond the primary responsibility market.
- Read and evaluate applications and provide input for student candidate selection process.
- Plan, coordinate, implement, and engage in college access presentations, regional receptions and other promotional events for prospective students, parents and high school personnel to present the mission of Southwestern University.
- Conduct scholarship and admission interviews with prospective students.
- Nurture, build, and sustain ongoing professional relationships with prospective students and those who influence them to achieve assigned enrollment management objectives.
- Serve as a second-reader in the admission committee.
- Using data driven philosophy, establish a clear regional recruitment and yield strategy and goal.
- Attend and support campus located recruitment events.
- Work as a true team member, collaborating with and supporting colleagues across the university to achieve shared goals.
- Achieve goals for admission and enrollment.
Additional Duties:
- Complete appropriate department paperwork, including travel expense reports, interview reports, etc.
- Track application performance through data research.
- Monitor travel budget.
- Engagement in regional professional group is expected.
- Trips to campus to engage in teamwork, training and on-campus events (approximately monthly).
- Proficiency with CRM use to manage work, develop future enrollments, and achieve goals.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience working as a regional admission officer.
- A strong preference for English and Spanish/bilingual fluency (verbal and written).
- Experience with Slate, CRM.
- Extensive knowledge of the University and the programs offered.
- Experience working with students from culturally diverse backgrounds.
- Work/leadership experience in higher education.
- Event planning in a professional capacity.
Starting annual salary:
$56,341. The final offer for the successful candidate will be commensurate with experience and may exceed the starting salary.
