This position reports to

Lead Senior Channel Applications Engineer

Your role and responsibilities

The Channel Applications Engineer (CAE) will provide technical sales execution to the Channel team, Channel partners, technical support, product engineering, R&D, and end customers. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, applying knowledge of ABB Low Voltage (LV) drive & PLC/HMI products, their applications, and addressing general LV drive and motor issues. This role can be remote; the candidate must reside in Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, New York, Connecticut, Vermont, or Maine. #LI-Remote This position contributes to the Motion Drive Products division in the Northeastern US. Main responsibilities:

  1. Apply Technical Knowledge: Design and recommend tailored solutions based on deep product knowledge to meet customer needs. Contribute to specifications, negotiate deviations, and identify applicable emerging solutions. Advise on delivering high-quality solutions using broad professional expertise.
  2. Customer Relations: Strengthen existing customer relationships, proactively engage new customers, follow up on complaints promptly, and meet customer needs while seeking feedback.
  3. Sales Techniques: Use basic sales techniques confidently, consider different viewpoints, and support the team with customer presentations as a product expert.
  4. Technical Problem Solving: Analyze drive, PLC/HMI, and motor application problems, coordinate with related groups, and ensure customer satisfaction.
Qualifications for the role
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 2+ years' experience with Low Voltage drives, with knowledge of applications like compressors, pumps, fans, extruders, cranes, hoists, winches, centrifuges, and general machinery.
  • Strong technical application and communication skills.
  • Understanding of Serial and Ethernet protocols (Ethernet/IP, ProfiNet, etc.).
  • Programming experience in industrial PLCs (ABB, Rockwell, Siemens, Square D, or others).
  • Ability to interpret electrical and mechanical drawings, technical journals, reports, and legal documents.
  • Respond effectively to inquiries or complaints from customers, vendors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and passport, and be able to travel >50% within the Northeast.
  • Legal authorization to work in the US for ABB.
