Job summary

Tearfund seeks a fully qualified accountant to provide regional accounting support across East and Central Africa. You will work with the Global Finance team to maintain financial integrity and support programme design and management.

Strong donor funding experience, budgeting skills, and the ability to communicate complex financial data to non-finance staff are essential. Role requires travel about 35% and English proficiency, with French language ability a plus.

Qualifications

• Fully qualified accountant with a recognised professional accounting or auditing qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).

We are seeking a qualified accountant with relevant post-qualification experience. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial reporting, financial accounting, and finance systems. Experience with institutional donors, capacity building, and working within an international organisation will be a distinct advantage.

The Regional Accountant ensures high-quality, customer-focused accounting support for Tearfund's operations across the East and Central Africa region. Working closely with Tearfund's Global Finance team, the role plays a key part in maintaining financial integrity and operational efficiency.

Do you have:

Experience in finance capacity building and training?

Substantial experience working with accounting software and online systems?

Proven experience in budgeting and budget management?

Exposure to organisational finance compliance?

Proven experience in supporting programme teams in project design and management?

Do you have the ability to:

Communicate complex financial data to non-finance professionals?

Work under your own initiative and make decisions within a clear systems framework?

Work cross-culturally and build effective relationships with colleagues across multiple locations?

Are you:

A fully qualified accountant holding a recognised professional accounting or auditing qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent)?
