Job summary

The Cyert Center at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh is seeking a fixed-term Early Childhood Educator to join our full-day program serving the children of our faculty, staff and students. The position runs 9/28/2026–4/30/2027 and offers opportunities to contribute to developmentally appropriate practice in a collaborative team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in early childhood education, child development, psychology, elementary education, special education, or related field, or a bachelor's with 30 ECE credit hours and 1 year of experience.
• Associate's degree in ECE/child development/special education/related field with 2 years of experience, or 30 ECE credits and 3 years of experience.
• Must pass a pre-employment physical exam including TB test for clearance.

Responsibilities

• Educating and caring for young children, encouraging their growth and development.
• Organizing a cohesive program and communicating the Center's philosophy (Reggio Emilia Approach).
• Assisting in creating an inquiry-based curriculum with collaborative learning.
• Adhering to DHS licensing regulations and NIEYA accreditation standards.
• Developing two-way communication with parents about children's experiences, and participating in planning and parent meetings.
• Pursuing 24 hours of annual professional development and growth.
