Job summary

The Medical University of South Carolina is seeking an Anatomy Laboratory Assistant to support the main anatomy and Bioskills laboratories. The role involves routine lab maintenance and assisting in brain labs, with an average commitment of 5–10 hours per week.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma and relevant lab experience; a related bachelor’s degree may substitute for experience. Flexible scheduling includes occasional Saturdays.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; one year work experience in a clinical or lab setting preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in a related science may substitute for required experience.
• Physical requirements include ability to lift up to 30 lbs and work in a lab environment.

Responsibilities

• Wash, dry, and clean lab items.
• Empty and dispose of biohazard waste per OSHA regulations.
• Sweep and mop laboratory floors as needed.
• Assemble eye protection.
• Assist neuroanatomy faculty in brain labs.
• Order, shelve and organize lab resources (gowns, gloves, shoe covers).
• Assist in workshops (weekdays, sometimes Saturdays).
• Assist in dissecting prosections for anatomy classes; dissections skills preferred.
• Check eye wash and emergency showers weekly.
• Maintain inventory and reorder lab supplies.
