Responsibilities

  • Washing/drying/cleaning of laboratory items (trays, stools, instruments, etc.)
  • Emptying all lab biohazard trashcans and disposing of the trash per OSHA regulations
  • Sweeping and mopping the laboratory floor as needed
  • Assembling eye protections
  • Work with neuroanatomy faculty to assist in brain labs
  • Ordering, shelving, and organizing the lab resources (gowns, gloves, shoe covers, etc.)
  • Helping occasionally with workshops (mostly on weekdays but sometimes on Saturdays)
  • Assist in dissecting prosections for anatomy classes (dissections skills preferred)
  • Checking the eye wash and emergency showers on a weekly basis
  • Keeping track of lab supplies inventory and re-ordering when necessary

The anatomy laboratory assistant will primarily help the lab supervisor with the maintenance and operations of the main anatomy laboratory as well as the Bioskills laboratory. The time commitment will be an average of 5 hours to up to 10 hours per week, depending on the activity level in the two anatomy labs.

Job Description
