Reg Respiratory Therapist II - Penn Presbyterian (Nights)

Join our team as a Respiratory Therapist II (RT2) at Penn Medicine, University of Pennsylvania Health System. Position Overview: A Respiratory Therapist Level 2 (RT2) manages patients of all ages with respiratory diseases or acute breathing conditions. Responsibilities include providing respiratory care in general, critical care, and emergency settings. The role requires at least one year of experience post-graduation from an accredited respiratory care program and is part of an internal clinical advancement program.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform physical assessments of pulmonary status and recommend appropriate respiratory care
  • Administer oxygen using various delivery devices, including heated high-flow systems and hyperbaric chambers
  • Administer aerosolized medications via nebulizer, MDI, DPI, or other devices
  • Manage inhaled nitric oxide or aerosolized prostacyclin therapies
  • Maintain artificial airways of different sizes
  • Set up, adjust, and maintain mechanical ventilators
  • Perform advanced procedures for severe hypoxemia, such as prone positioning and lung recruitment maneuvers
  • Operate non-invasive BiPAP & CPAP devices
  • Transport critically ill patients on respiratory modalities
  • Respond to hospital emergencies like rapid response and code calls
  • Utilize RT protocols and perform diagnostic tests like ABGs and EKGs
  • Document care activities and manage billing in electronic systems
  • Complete annual competencies and maintain licensure and credentials
Credentials & Education:
  • Active Respiratory Therapist license in Pennsylvania, registered by NBRC
  • CPR and ACLS certifications; NRP certification within 6 months if applicable
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in respiratory care or related experience from an accredited program
