Job summary

Henry Ford Health in Rochester, MI is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to deliver expert life-support and diagnostic care in Intensive Care Units across HFHS locations. Under supervision, you will perform invasive and non-invasive procedures, document thoroughly, and mentor students and staff.

You will collaborate with physicians and nursing teams to optimize patient outcomes and ensure compliant billing practices.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited Respiratory Therapist program.
• Bachelor's in respiratory therapy preferred; AS degree minimum.
• Licensure: Michigan State license or eligibility within 90 days.

Job Description

Join our Respiratory Therapy team and make a real difference in the lives of our most critically ill patients. Under the guidance of the Respiratory Therapy Supervisor, you'll deliver life-saving care through advanced life-support, resuscitation, monitoring, and medical gas therapies—primarily to patients in our Intensive Care Units. You'll perform both invasive and non-invasive diagnostic procedures with precision and compassion, while maintaining clinical excellence across multiple HFHS business units.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver expert respiratory care and life-support therapies to critically ill patients in Intensive Care and General Practice Units
• Perform and interpret invasive and non-invasive diagnostic procedures with accuracy and clinical judgment
• Collaborate effectively with physicians, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes
• Maintain meticulous documentation of all patient care activities and clinical assessments
• Mentor and supervise respiratory therapy students, externs, and orientation staff, fostering the next generation of respiratory professionals
• Manage patient billing information with accuracy and attention to detail
• Maintain clinical expertise and stay current with departmental protocols across various HFHS locations

Physical Demands & Working Conditions: This role is performed in dynamic patient care settings and blood-analysis laboratories with potential exposure to communicable diseases. You'll work with pressurized piped-in and bottled medical gases, regularly lift and move patients, assist with patient transport, and handle medical equipment. You must be comfortable with limited noise, temperature fluctuations, and dust exposure. Proper lifting and equipment techniques are essential to ensure safety for yourself, patients, and colleagues.

_ EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED_ :

• Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapist program.
• Bachelor's in respiratory therapy preferred, Associate of Science Degree, minimum.
• Recent graduate of a Respiratory Therapist school or two years of recent Respiratory Therapist experience in a Tertiary Hospital.

_ CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:_

• Registration with the National Board of Respiratory Care. Current License
• Respiratory Therapist in the State of Michigan. Newly graduated therapists will be allowed 90 days from the date of graduation to complete their registration with the National Board of Respiratory Care and to obtain a State of Michigan Respiratory Therapist License. If not obtained, will be terminated.
• NRP preferred.

Additional Information

_ _ Sign On Bonus: $3750.00__

_ Schedule:_

• 20 hrs a week. 40 hours a pay period.
• Afternoon shift: 1500-2300 and every 3rd weekend.
• Weekend and holidays are 12 hours midnights 7p-730a (weekends are Fri, Sat, Sun).
