Job summary

Penn Medicine, University of Pennsylvania Health System is seeking a registered sleep technologist for the Phoenixville Sleep Center. This position is vital for conducting comprehensive sleep studies.

As part of a dedicated team, you will perform sleep testing procedures, data analysis, and provide patient education while ensuring safety protocols are followed.

A HS Diploma or equivalent and at least 6 months in a clinical sleep lab are required, along with RPSGT or RST credentials.

Qualifications

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification is required.
  • RPSGT or RST credentialing is required.
  • Minimum 6 months of experience in a clinical sleep laboratory setting.

Responsibilities

  • Review patient’s history and verify medical study order.
  • Follow sleep center protocols for sleep studies.
  • Provide appropriate patient education.
  • Select and calibrate testing equipment.
  • Apply electrodes and sensors according to standards.
  • Fit and desensitize patients for positive airway pressure masks.
  • Implement patient safety interventions.
  • Analyze sleep study data for report preparation.
  • Navigate EMR and sleep data software.

Entity: Clinical Care Associates (CCA) - Penn Primary Care (PPC) and Penn Specialty Practices (PSP) of Penn Medicine Medical Group (PMMG)

Department: Phoenixville Sleep Center

Location: 824 Main Street, Phoenixville, PA

Hours: Full-Time

Summary:

  • The registered sleep technologist performs comprehensive sleep testing procedures, interventions and data analysis and associated interventions under the general supervision of the Lead Sleep Technologist, Clinical Lab Manager, or Medical Director. The registered sleep technologist is credentialed in sleep technology through the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT), or the American Board of Sleep Medicine (ABSM). A registered sleep technologist is able to provide oversight of other sleep center staff technicians and technologists.

Responsibilities:

  • Review the patient’s history and verify the medical study order
  • Follow sleep center protocols related to the sleep study
  • Provide age-appropriate patient education
  • Select appropriate equipment and calibrate for testing
  • Apply all electrodes and sensors according to accepted published standards
  • Perform routine positive airway pressure mask fitting and desensitization
  • Implement appropriate interventions (including actions necessary for patient safety and therapeutic intervention such as positive airway pressure, supplemental oxygen, etc.)
  • Demonstrate knowledge of all in-lab and out of center sleep testing protocols
  • Analyze sleep study data and prepare reports for provider interpretation
  • Navigate EMR and sleep data software platforms

Credentials:

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (Required)
  • RPSGT or RST (Required)

Education or Equivalent Experience:

  • H.S. Diploma/GED (Required)
  • Minimum 6 months experience in a clinical sleep laboratory setting (Required)
  • Associate of Arts or Science (Preferred)
