Job summary

The New Mexico Department of Health invites applications for a Refugee Health Coordinator within the Communicable Disease Bureau. You will support the Refugee Health Program Manager in developing, implementing, and evaluating domestic medical screening and referral services for eligible refugee populations.

You will provide technical assistance to public health offices and community partners, collect data for federal and state reports, and promote culturally and linguistically appropriate

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in a related field and three years’ experience may substitute for required education.
  • Experience with refugee or disenfranchised populations preferred.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate statewide domestic screening program.
  • Provide technical assistance to public health offices, healthcare providers, and community-based organizations regarding eligibility and service guidelines.
  • Facilitate access to overseas medical forms via the Electronic Disease Notification (EDN) system.
  • Provide surveillance, data collection, and reporting of medical screening and health promotion outcomes.
  • Educate healthcare professionals and officials on CLAS standards and refugee health issues.
  • Coordinate with partners to leverage expertise and identify new collaborators.
  • Collaborate with health, social services and refugee agencies on cross-cutting health issues.
  • Participate in state and national meetings to learn about refugee health trends.
