Job summary

The instructor will supervise inmate workers, oversee repairs and preventive maintenance, and enforce safety and security procedures in a correctional setting.

Qualifications

• Five years of experience in repair and servicing of refrigeration or air conditioning systems.
• Completion of an approved apprenticeship in the refrigeration or air conditioning mechanic trade.
• Equivalent combination of experience and training including one year of journey level work in refrigeration or AC mechanic trade.

Responsibilities

• Teach refrigeration repair methods to inmates and supervise hands-on work.
• Inspect, repair, and replace parts on refrigeration equipment such as walk-ins and freezers.
• Schedule preventive maintenance and document system conditions and safety controls.
• Issue and track tools and materials while maintaining security and compliance.
