Qualifications

• Five years of experience in the repair and servicing of refrigeration systems or air conditioning systems.

• An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes one year of journey level work in the refrigeration or air conditioning mechanic trade.
• Active Universal Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certificate is required.

Responsibilities

• Inmate instruction: Teach refrigeration repair methods and guide inmates through hands-on work.
• Equipment maintenance: Inspect, repair, and replace parts on walk-in coolers, freezers, air conditioners, and related equipment.
• Preventive tasks: Schedule maintenance, monitor system conditions, and document compressor levels and safety controls.
• Tool control: Issue, collect, and track tools and materials for security.
• Record keeping: Maintain logs for repairs, training progress, inventories, and usage.
• Operational oversight: Monitor work areas, enforce rules, and ensure safe practices.
