A leading company in Virginia is seeking a qualified individual to monitor and maintain refrigeration systems. The role involves troubleshooting complex problems, performing preventive maintenance, and keeping accurate records. Candidates must have a strong background in ammonia refrigeration and A/C control devices, along with a high school diploma.
Position Summary: Applies principles in solving simple to complex problems affecting certain properties of a system, such as the application of the gas law to refrigeration.
Applies one or more principles of mechanics, electricity, thermodynamics, or fluid dynamics, interacting in complex systems.
Forms and tests numerous hypotheses to ensure correct diagnosis (troubleshooting) in complex systems where various mechanical, electrical, thermal, or flow faults may be the source of problems.
Correctly identifies and applies involved principles of pressure/temperature relationships, refrigeration system piping, relays, contractors, and starters in problem solving.
Capable of training others.
Must pass a HazMat physical and training. Capable of pumping down parts or entire refrigeration systems.
Responsibilities: Starts system and observes operation. Performs periodic inspections of equipment and systems to monitor operating conditions. Reads temperature, pressure, and ampere readings. Uses gauges and instruments to observe system operation. Drains oil from refrigeration units. Adjusts mechanisms such as valves and controls based on gauge readings. Records pressure and temperature during operation. Tests lines, components, and connections for leaks. Performs preventive maintenance on compressors, condensers, evaporators, and ice makers. Replaces or adjusts defective or worn parts, including water pumps and heavy-duty compressors. Replaces defective seals in screw compressors. Keeps detailed records of repairs and malfunctions. Checks fans, motors, belts, and bearings.
Prepares paperwork for PSM, line breaks, hot work, confined spaces, etc.
