Job summary

Lineage is seeking a Maintenance Technician III (Ammonia Refrigeration) for our industrial cold storage facility in Illinois. This hands-on role performs preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on refrigeration, electrical, and building systems to keep operations safe and reliable.

You will troubleshoot ammonia equipment, document activities in CMMS, coordinate with contractors, and ensure compliance with PSM/RMP and IIAR standards.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of industrial refrigeration experience (ammonia, Freon, and/or CO₂); trade school or equivalent training preferred.
  • 3+ years of mechanical/electrical maintenance in warehouse, processing, or manufacturing settings.
  • Understanding of electrical instrumentation, P&IDs, pneumatics and hydraulics.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills; able to convey technical details to non-technical audiences.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, and CMMS.

Responsibilities

We are seeking a Maintenance Technician III (Ammonia Refrigeration Technician) at the intermediate to advanced level to support the upkeep of our industrial cold storage facility and the essential equipment that keeps operations running. This hands‑on role is perfect for technicians who take pride in precision, reliability, and compliance—performing regular testing, inspections, and adjustments to ensure every system operates to exact design and safety standards

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on industrial refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, and building systems to ensure optimal uptime and safety.

  • Troubleshoot and repair ammonia compressors, condensers, evaporators, valves, and controls in compliance with all PSM/RMP and IIAR standards.

  • Conduct regular inspections, performance testing, and calibration of refrigeration and electrical components to maintain system integrity and efficiency.

  • Document all maintenance activities and parts usage in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

  • Support and monitor contractors working on or near refrigeration systems, ensuring full adherence to company and regulatory safety protocols.

  • Communicate system status, findings, and maintenance recommendations clearly to leadership and cross‑functional teams.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of industrial refrigeration experience (ammonia, Freon, and/or CO₂); trade school or equivalent training preferred.

  • 3+ years of mechanical/electrical maintenance experience in a warehouse, processing, or manufacturing environment.

  • Basic understanding of electrical instrumentation, P&IDs, pneumatics, and hydraulics.

  • Strong problem‑solving, communication, and documentation skills; able to convey technical details to non‑technical audiences.

  • Proficient in basic computer applications (Word, Excel, CMMS).

  • Ability to work in extreme temperature environments (−20°F to 100°F) and lift up to 40 lbs.

  • Flexible to work various shifts, weekends, and overtime as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • RETA, GCAP, or IIAR certifications such as CARO, CIRO, or Operator I/II are highly valued — or willingness to obtain within 6 months of hire.

Pay Range:$29.13 - $49.13
