Thermo King of Dallas is hiring Apprentice Refrigeration Technicians at 3323 Jane Lane, Dallas TX 75247. Apprentice Refrigeration technicians are responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing Thermo King reefer units, auxiliary power units (APUs), and heating units.
Responsibilities
- This position allows the right candidate to gain knowledge and experience to perform basic repair operations. Responsibilities include learning practical skills, participating in classes and workshops, observing health and safety codes, and completing tests and assignments. On-the-job training will be provided where you perform repairs under supervision.
- The training is divided into four segments with evaluations at each 90-day period. You will be required to pass environmental tests and, at the end of one year, the Thermo King Certification test.
- You should be well-organized, flexible, and willing to assist in various tasks. Basic understanding of electrical and fluid dynamics is preferred. You should have a basic set of hand tools and the skills to use them.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 0-2 years of trade school or equivalent experience preferred.
- Must have or acquire necessary tools for the position.
- Must have or be able to obtain a forklift license.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to operate motor vehicles for testing.
- Basic mechanical knowledge and skills preferred.
- Basic knowledge of 4-cycle engines, Ohm’s Law, electricity, and 12-volt DC system preferred.
Competencies
- Ability to use hand and power tools, welding, refrigeration gauges, diagnostic tools, multimeters, and measuring instruments.
- Skills in using computer diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to read electrical and refrigeration schematics.
- Ability to solder parts and communicate effectively.
Performance Requirements
- Perform work as directed and meet efficiency goals.
- Maintain good attendance and work safely.
Physical Demands
- Ability to perform manual labor, including lifting up to 65 pounds, bending, walking, and working in various weather conditions.
- Ability to stand for long periods, climb ladders, and work in tight spaces.
- Exertion of force up to 50 lbs frequently and occasionally 65 lbs.
- Drive service vehicles for extended distances.
- Work more than 8 hours occasionally and perform repetitive movements.
- Must have normal vision and manual dexterity.
- Work near hazardous materials and fumes.
