Thermo King of Dallas is now hiring Apprentice Refrigeration Technicians at 3323 Jane Lane, Dallas TX 75247. Apprentice Refrigeration Technicians are responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing Thermo King reefer units, auxiliary power units (APUs), and heating units.
Responsibilities
- This position is designed to allow the right candidate to gain knowledge and experience to perform basic repair operations. Responsibilities include learning practical skills, participating in classes and workshops, observing safety codes, and completing tests and assignments. On-the-job training will be provided where repairs are performed under supervision.
- The training is divided into four segments, with evaluations at each 90-day period. You will need to pass two environmental tests during this period. After one year, you are expected to pass the Thermo King Certification test.
- You should be well-organized, flexible, and willing to assist wherever possible. Basic understanding of electrical and fluid dynamics is required. A basic set of hand tools and the ability to use them are also necessary.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 0–2 years of trade school or equivalent experience preferred.
- Must have or acquire necessary tools for this position.
- Must have or be able to obtain a forklift license.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to operate motor vehicles for testing purposes.
- Basic mechanical knowledge and skills preferred.
- Basic knowledge of 4-cycle engines, Ohm’s Law, electricity, and 12-volt DC systems is preferred.
Competencies
- Ability to use hand and power tools, welding, refrigeration gauges, diagnostic tools, multimeters, and measuring instruments.
- Skills to operate computer diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to read electrical and refrigeration schematics.
- Ability to solder parts and communicate effectively.
Performance Requirements
- Perform work as directed and meet efficiency goals.
- Maintain good attendance and work safely.
Physical Demands
- Perform moderate to heavy manual labor, including lifting up to 65 pounds, bending, walking, and working in various weather conditions.
- Able to stand for extended periods, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
- Work may require more than 8 hours shifts occasionally.
