Base pay range

$60,000.00/yr - $66,000.00/yr

Position: Refrigeration Technician – 1st Shift Weekend

Location: Hilliard, OH

Schedule: Friday to Sunday, 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM

Position Summary

The Refrigeration Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing all ammonia and nitrogen refrigeration systems, as well as associated freezers, air conditioning, and chilled water systems. This role ensures continuous, efficient freezing and cold storage of food products and ingredients, along with cooling of the plant facilities. The technician will support plant operations by executing preventive maintenance, performing mechanical and electrical repairs, and operating systems safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, and log refrigeration system performance
• Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshoot mechanical/electrical issues
• Inspect equipment using gauges, visual checks, and diagnostics
• Use hand and specialty tools for maintenance and repair tasks
• Read and interpret manuals, blueprints, and system specifications
• Order replacement parts and maintain accurate maintenance records
• Maintain a clean, organized, and GMP-compliant work environment
• Follow all plant safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE
• Meet product safety and quality standards
• Identify and report system issues using inspection and data analysis
• Foster positive working relationships and resolve conflicts respectfully
• Support team objectives and participate in meetings and trainings
• Assist with cross-functional tasks including electrical, pipefitting, pneumatics, and hydraulics
• Help train new team members as needed
  
  

Required Skills & Experience

• 1–3 years of hands-on experience with industrial ammonia refrigeration systems (including vacuum systems, screw compressors, blast/storage freezers, condensers, chilled water systems)
• Experience with nitrogen flash freezers and Reco/Frigoscandia brand freezers is highly preferred
• Working knowledge of electrical systems, pipefitting, hydraulics, and pneumatics
• Ability to read technical documents and follow standard operating procedures
• High school diploma or equivalent with basic communication, math, and reading skills
• Technical training in ammonia refrigeration and mechanical/electrical maintenance
• Familiarity with microprocessors, 110–480V 3-phase AC power, conduit/wiring, and industrial controls
