Job summary

JLL in Seattle is seeking a Refrigeration Technician to maintain HVAC and refrigeration systems at client sites, balancing hands-on work with proactive maintenance to minimize downtime and support sustainable facility operations.

You’ll train teammates, coordinate with vendors, and ensure safety and quality through accurate records and adherence to LOTO procedures while working on-site from 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM with on‑call availability.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years’ hands‑on HVAC or refrigeration experience in commercial/industrial settings.
  • Licenses: Journey Refrigeration Mechanic or Refrigeration Operating Engineer (SDIC).
  • EPA 608 Certification required for refrigerant handling.
  • CMMS experience (Corrigo preferred) with parts/inventory management.
  • Ability to read blueprints, drawings, and technical manuals.
  • Strong communication and problem solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and complete work orders in Corrigo within established timeframes; perform preventative and repair maintenance on HVAC and refrigeration equipment.
  • Troubleshoot equipment using systematic methods to identify and repair problems quickly and safely.
  • Generate work orders for defects and coordinate parts and inventory improvements.
  • Direct BAS Console Operators on operating issues and review error logs for efficiency.
  • Provide technical support and coordination with contractors, vendors, and project managers.
  • Deliver training on HVACR tasks and maintain records (LOTO, refrigerant transactions, work orders).
  • Suggest improvements to the preventive maintenance program based on performance trends.

Refrigeration Technician - JLL

What this job involves:

As a Refrigeration Technician at JLL, you'll serve as a critical member of our facilities maintenance team, ensuring optimal performance and reliability of HVAC and refrigeration systems at our client sites. This role combines hands‑on technical expertise with proactive maintenance planning to minimize equipment downtime and maximize operational efficiency. You'll work in a dynamic environment where your troubleshooting skills and technical knowledge directly impact facility operations, contributing to JLL's commitment to creating sustainable, high‑performing real estate solutions. This position offers opportunities for technical growth, collaborative problem‑solving, and the chance to mentor team members while maintaining critical building systems that keep our clients' operations running smoothly.

What your day‑to‑day will look like:

  • Manage and complete assigned work orders within established timeframes using the Corrigo CMMS, performing preventative and repair maintenance on all HVAC and refrigeration equipment with a professional and safe approach
  • Troubleshoot equipment using systematic techniques to identify problems and complete repairs promptly and efficiently, minimizing downtime and ensuring continuous facility operations
  • Generate work orders for defects discovered during inspections and preventative maintenance, while identifying and sourcing necessary parts and recommending improvements to spare parts inventory
  • Direct and advise BAS Console Operators daily on operational issues, reviewing error logs to identify abnormal conditions and ensure efficient site performance
  • Provide technical support and coordination to co‑workers, contractors, vendors, project managers, and building engineers to support project and renovation work while maintaining established quality standards
  • Deliver training to team members on HVACR tasks, assist other trades during peak periods, and maintain accurate records including LOTO procedures, refrigerant transactions, and work order documentation
  • Identify and recommend improvements to the preventative maintenance program based on equipment performance trends and operational observations

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of hands‑on experience working with HVAC or refrigeration systems in commercial or industrial settings
  • Journey Refrigeration Mechanic License or Refrigeration Operating Engineer License (SDIC)
  • Universal HVAC EPA 608 Certification (required for refrigerant handling)
  • HVAC/Refrigeration technical or vocational school completion, or associate degree in related field
  • Proficiency with CMMS work order systems (Corrigo preferred), equipment history tracking, and parts/material inventory management
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, written work orders, sketches, and technical manuals
  • Strong communication, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills with ability to work independently and collaboratively

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with building automation systems (BAS) and understanding of console operations and error log interpretation
  • Familiarity with diverse building equipment including air handlers, chillers, air compressors, liquid handling pump systems, vacuum pumps, fume hoods, and commercial refrigerators
  • Previous experience training or mentoring technical team members
  • Track record of contributing to maintenance program improvements and operational efficiency initiatives
  • Experience working in multi‑trade environments and supporting cross‑functional project teams

Location: On‑site – North Seattle, WA

Work Shift: 10 hours/day, Monday‑Thursday or Tuesday‑Friday (6:00 AM – 4:30 PM); on‑call availability and overtime as needed

Physical Requirements: May require prolonged standing, walking, repeated bending, squatting, stooping, and working in uncomfortable positions. Work often performed on ladders or scaffolding.

Estimated compensation for this position: 77,900.00 – 112,900.00 USD per year
