Description Position at JBS USA

Job Title: Refrigeration Technician

Location: Moberly, MO

Scope of Position

The Refrigeration Technician is responsible for maintaining all aspects of the ammonia refrigeration system, boiler, booster water, compressed air, fire suppression, HVAC, and building maintenance tasks as needed. They are also responsible for preventive maintenance and emergency repairs on all equipment as needed.

Responsibilities

1. Maintain and complete work orders and preventive maintenance paperwork in a timely manner.
2. Maintain a log book of all breakdowns and corrective actions taken.
3. Complete daily rounds on all equipment; this includes weekends and holidays, 365 days a year.
4. Schedule shutdowns of equipment and machinery for repairs and maintenance without disrupting production.
5. Troubleshoot equipment mechanically and electrically for any issues.
6. Utilize time effectively to minimize equipment downtime and repairs.
7. Follow safety procedures and lockout-tagout (LOTO) protocols for all equipment being worked on.
8. Be a team player and seek guidance or help when needed.
9. Be on call when needed and able to work alone if required.
10. Receive and follow training on LOTO, fall protection, confined space, hot work, and other safety protocols.
11. Order materials and parts as needed for stock or repairs.
12. Maintain clean mechanical rooms at all times.
13. Work professionally with outside vendors and technicians.
14. Assist maintenance technicians with mechanical troubleshooting and repairs as directed.
15. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

1. At least two years of experience in refrigeration or boiler room preferred.
2. Operator 1 and Operator 2 certifications preferred.
3. Strong knowledge of industrial maintenance and electrical functions.
4. Able to learn and follow management and team leader instructions.
5. Adhere to safety rules and procedures.
6. Ability to read and write in English.
7. Proficient in time management and prioritizing work.
8. Computer skills for engine room functions and email.
9. Ability to be SCBA certified for HazMat.

Physical Demands/Work Environment

1. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
2. Work 10-hour shifts, 5 days a week.
3. Work environment includes wet, humid, and extreme cold conditions, and proximity to moving mechanical parts.
4. Noise levels can be loud, especially in the ammonia compressor room.
5. Exposed to outdoor weather conditions and chemicals.
6. Climb ladders, stairs, and navigate piping and equipment as needed.
