Works with factory management and engineers in the production and testing of refrigerated and non-refrigerated systems, subassemblies and FRU kits. Uses highly developed test and production skills with a minimum of direction to: build, wire, functionally test, troubleshoot, modify and repair a wide variety of simple to complex electromechanical, mechanical and refrigeration systems/assemblies. Utilizes in-depth knowledge of refrigeration theory, testing, assembling, wiring, . Interfaces with management and engineering to provide product quality and continuous improvement feedback. As needed, participates in team meetings where quality and process improvements, problem solving (8D), safety and other manufacturing issues are discussed.

May perform work as a cell coordinator and should have the ability to lead and instruct less experienced co-workers and promotes teamwork and team building while helping to create a spirit of continuous improvement. Will have a level two refrigerant transition and recovery certificate and at a minimum has successfully completed a qualified air conditioning and refrigeration course.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Understand and follow the Job Safety Requirements (JSA) for this position.
• Is able to interpret and use existing blueprints, test plans, sketches, schematics, and written and verbal instructions/procedures in the assembly, test, diagnosis and repair of systems.
• Ensures all tools and diagnostic equipment required is calibrated and used properly.
• Follows existing assembly and standard work procedures/instructions to assemble, braze, solder, weld, freon charge, drill, tube bend, wire, case pack, and deburr refrigerated and non-refrigerated systems, subassemblies and FRU kits. Helps to define and develop new procedures if none exist.
• Programs loop controllers, PLC’s, OIT’s and related firmware with proper software, programs and parameters. Understands DIN and other PCB settings.
• Properly follows existing acceptance test procedures (ATP) and provides input to engineering to aid in developing qualification test procedures (QTP). Effectively diagnose system failure modes down to and/or component level and accurately identifies parts required for repair to the appropriate person.
• Is able to differentiate between normal and abnormal system operations and make recommendations for repair if required. May repair new and returned parts when needed. Ensures inventory is properly transacted when needed for repairs. Properly tag and process failed components as required by existing quality procedures. May assist engineering in the development of test and production procedures and documentation.
• Actively leads, trains and instructs less experienced employees in the correct production and test procedures. May travel to customer sites to assist with on-site repair or training of products.
• Uses Service Pro database or other software as required to document first pass yield, test data, repairs, and other metrics. Visually inspect and transact parts into stock when needed.
• May perform work in all factory work cells and/or work areas as assigned and performs other related duties as directed.
• Follows and supports the 6S program by maintaining a safe, clean, and orderly work area. Observes all safety policies and performs P/M on equipments as needed. Participates in safety, productivity and quality team meetings as required.
