Green Air, Inc. is seeking an experienced Senior Refrigeration Technician in Virginia to diagnose, repair, and maintain commercial refrigeration systems, with emphasis on soft-serve machines, walk-ins, chillers, and ice machines.

The role requires 10+ years of total experience with 3-5 years in refrigeration, EPA 608 Certification, and strong communication skills. The position is on-site with on-call duties and potential travel for out-of-town jobs.

Qualifications

• Education and certification requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent or relevant work experience.
• EPA Section 608 Universal Certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain commercial refrigeration systems, focusing on soft-serve machines, walk-ins, chillers and ice machines.
• Perform complex troubleshooting on chillers (air- and water-cooled) and compressors.
• Estimate and quote system replacements and maintenance jobs.
• Document time, labor, parts, and other activities for work orders and timecards.
• Maintain inventory and tools; order correct parts for jobs.
• Mentor apprentices and helpers; provide on-the-job training.
• Communicate professionally with customers and office staff.
• Handle payments and coordinate with Accounts Receivable.

The Senior Refrigeration Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of commercial refrigeration systems—with a primary focus on specialized soft-serve machines, walk-in coolers, chillers and ice machines—while maintaining a conscientious and superior level of customer service.

Chiller Systems: Perform complex troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance on air-cooled and water-cooled chillers (centrifugal, screw, scroll, and reciprocating compressors).

System Diagnostics: Diagnose complex system issues, including electrical troubleshooting, refrigerant leak detection, and airflow problems.

Estimating & Quoting: Quoting system replacements as well as repair and maintenance prices.

Documentation: Electronically recording labor, parts, etc. for work orders and maintaining accurate timecard keeping.

Inventory & Asset Management: Maintain cleanliness and organization of company vehicle and company provided tools. Responsible for maintaining truck stock and ordering correct parts and materials for jobs.

Mentorship: Assist in the training of helpers/apprentices.

Communication: Communicate effectively and professionally with customers as well as with office staff.

Administration: Collect payments from customers and turn in to Accounts Receivable.

Scheduling: Being part of the on-call rotation (7 days on call – including weekends) and working out of town as needed.

General: Other duties as assigned by manager.

Requirements

Education/Certification: High School Diploma/ GED/ or relevant work experience. EPA Section 608 Universal Certification

Required Knowledge: Expert understanding of refrigeration cycles, refrigerants, electrical schematics, and commercial refrigeration components

Experience Required: 10+ years of total experience, 3-5 years of refrigeration.

Skill and Ability: Expert level of verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Ability to work in a team environment

Ability to use significant independent judgment

Proficient in Microsoft Office Products

Working Conditions

• Must work under hazardous conditions including high places, chemical exposures, electrical current, blood exposure, and moving machinery.
• Can work both inside and outside. Subject to weather.
• Ability to operate in an open work area with moderate everyday noise.
• Ability to remain in work area beyond normal working hours.
