Job summary

Capstone Mechanical, LP. seeks a Refrigeration Service Technician to service, install and maintain commercial refrigeration systems, perform tests and analysis of data to ensure proper operation, and provide recommendations to customers.

This field‑based, full‑time position travels to customer sites to diagnose faults, perform routine repairs, inspect system operations, and implement preventive maintenance in varied environments such as kitchens and walk‑ins.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• EPA certification required.
• D2 or S2 Connecticut trade license required.
• 5+ years of maintenance and repair experience in commercial refrigeration.
• Knowledge of commercial kitchen hotside equipment and HVAC package units preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and troubleshoot the condition of operating equipment and controls to ensure continued proper and safe operation.
• Perform routine repairs and inspect/test system operations.
• Inspect and test systems operations and determine customer concerns.
• Install and connect components related to refrigeration equipment.

Job description

Reporting to the Service Manager, the Refrigeration Service Technician will service, install and maintain commercial refrigeration systems, perform tests and analysis of data to ensure the proper functioning of equipment and provide recommendations to customers as appropriate.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Evaluate and troubleshoot the condition of operating equipment and controls to ensure continued proper & safe operation.
• Perform routine repairs.
• Inspect and test systems operations.
• Determine customer concerns with their current refrigeration systems.
• Comply with all applicable standards, policies, and procedures, including safety procedures and the maintenance of a clean work area.
• Discuss mechanical malfunctions with customers.
• Record and report all faults, deficiencies, and other unusual occurrences, as well as the time and materials expended on work orders.
• Recommend, develop, or perform preventative or general maintenance procedures, such as cleaning, power-washing, or vacuuming equipment, lubricating parts, or changing filters.
• Assist with other work in coordination with repair and maintenance teams.
• Install and connect components related to the industry.
• Generate work orders that address deficiencies in need of correction.
• Assemble, position, and install refrigeration equipment, following blueprints.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Education/Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 5 + years of maintenance & repair experience in the commercial refrigeration trade.
• Ability to evaluate and troubleshoot the condition of operating equipment and controls to ensure continued proper & safe operation.
• Ability to perform routine repairs and inspect/test system operations.
• Ability to determine customer concerns with their current refrigeration systems.
• Compliance with all applicable standards, policies, and procedures, including safety procedures and the maintenance of a clean work area.
• EPA certification required.
• A current D2 or S2 Connecticut trade license required.
• Knowledge of commercial kitchen hotside equipment preferred.
• Knowledge of HVAC package units preferred.
• This position requires: stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, crawling, reaching, walking, lifting, grasping, feeling, repetitive motions, and moving or carrying objects or materials.
• Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This role requires regular lifting, bending, kneeling, climbing, and standing, as well as the ability to lift and carry tools and equipment.

Work Environment

This job is largely a field-based position, with technicians traveling to customer sites to service, install, and maintain refrigeration equipment. Work is performed in varied environments, including commercial kitchens, walk-in coolers/freezers, and mechanical rooms, and may require exposure to varying temperatures and working conditions.

Salary & Benefits:

• $38.47 - $52.90 per hour
