Role Description

The Refrigeration Mechanic is a full-time, on-site role based in the Washington DC–Baltimore Area, servicing supermarket and commercial refrigeration systems. Day-to-day responsibilities include installing, maintaining, and repairing refrigeration and HVAC equipment, performing scheduled preventive maintenance, and diagnosing and resolving mechanical and electrical issues. The role involves responding to service calls, conducting system inspections, replacing or repairing components, and documenting work performed in service reports. The Refrigeration Mechanic will collaborate with other technicians, follow safety and regulatory standards, and communicate clearly with store personnel and internal dispatch to ensure minimal downtime for customers. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required to support critical operations and emergencies.

Qualifications

• Strong preventive maintenance and maintenance & repair skills for supermarket refrigeration and HVAC systems.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues in commercial refrigeration equipment.
• Working knowledge of electricity, including safe practices for wiring, controls, and system diagnostics.
• HVAC competency, including understanding of refrigeration cycles, refrigerants, and relevant codes and regulations.
• Relevant technical training or certification in refrigeration/HVAC; EPA certification for refrigerants is preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and work orders, with solid documentation skills.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between customer sites within the Washington DC–Baltimore region.
