Job summary

Wegmans Food Markets in Allentown, PA is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to repair and maintain refrigeration and HVAC systems across stores and facilities. You will diagnose issues, perform preventive maintenance, and keep service records while following safety protocols.

Requirements include 5+ years of related experience, EPA Universal Certification, and proficiency with building management systems and PLC-based controls; welding and plumbing skills are a plus.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of related work experience.
• EPA Universal Certification.
• Proficient with a laptop and able to operate building management systems, on-board control systems, and PLC-based controls.
• Welding and plumbing knowledge.
• Experience with supermarket/restaurant equipment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic repairs and preventive maintenance on refrigeration and HVAC equipment.
• Identify and diagnose issues with refrigeration and HVAC controls systems; repair self-contained cases and rooftop units; understand glycol systems and DX racked systems.
• Work with a team to complete tasks in a timely manner.
• Communicate with team, supervisors, and customers; assess downtime with store personnel.
• Create and maintain preventative maintenance records and update truck inventory.
• Deliver high-quality service to internal and external customers while upholding Wegmans standards.

What will I do?

• Perform basic repairs and preventive maintenance on refrigeration and HVAC equipment
• Identify and diagnose issues with refrigeration and HVAC controls systems; repair self-contained cases and repair rooftop HVAC units of all types; demonstrate knowledge of secondary glycol racked systems as well as conventional DX racked systems
• Work effectively with a team, assisting other personnel as necessary to ensure all tasks are completed in a timely manner
• Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and customers; determine best practices for repair work and assess downtime with store personnel
• Create and maintain preventative maintenance records on all equipment serviced; maintain truck inventory
• Deliver incredible service to both internal and external customers, and maintain Wegmans high standards of quality and food & human safety procedures
  

Qualifications

• 5 or more years related work experience
• Technical training through apprenticeship, RSES, trade school, or equivalent work experience
• EPA Universal Certification
• Proficient with the use of a laptop computer, possessing the ability to maintain, troubleshoot and operate building management systems, on board control systems, and manufacturer’s PLC based control systems
• Sound mechanical ability, as well as knowledge of welding and plumbing
• Supermarket/restaurant related equipment experience, including knowledge of applicable codes, regulations and operating standards is preferred
• Independent ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical systems is preferred
