Job Description

Job Title: Refrigeration Engineer - PPM

Contract Type: Permanent

Working Hours: 42.5 hours per week (8:30 - 17:30). Includes overtime, travel time, and participation in standby rota procedures.

This is a key position responsible for carrying out planned PPM across multiple site locations. The role includes supporting operational delivery during reactive maintenance, mainly in summer and peak trading periods. Engineering teams provide 24-hour service coverage through planned and extended working hours, including standby rota participation. You will be required to assist with a minimum of 4 weeks of standby periods annually, each lasting one full week, including evenings and weekends.

Key Accountabilities
  1. Ensure PPM schedules are completed within agreed timescales and all paperwork is accurately completed according to procedures.
  2. Complete reactive work promptly and ensure documentation is up to date.
  3. Identify non-repairable faults, advise the Line Manager with recommendations for replacements.
  4. Participate in an out-of-hours standby rota, with a minimum of 4 standby periods annually.
  5. Arrange cover for holidays or unforeseen circumstances, communicating effectively with line management.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Essential: NVQ/C&G Refrigeration, Refrigerant Handling, C&G 2079 or equivalent CITB certificate, Time-Served Apprenticeship.
  • Desirable: Hydrocarbon refrigerant certification, CO2 refrigerant training, Commercial/Supermarket Hydrocarbon refrigerant training, CO2 refrigerant training.
The ideal candidate:
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal).
  • 5+ years' experience.
  • Full driving license.
