Job summary

Grifols is seeking a Refrigeration Consultant for a remote/home based role with nationwide travel (25-35%). You will supervise contractors for freezer installations, perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot large-area refrigeration equipment, and diagnose issues in commercial/industrial settings.

• Strong trouble shooting abilities to identify and resolve equipment problems.

Responsibilities

• Select and supervise outside contractors for on-site freezer installations.
• Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of refrigeration equipment across large area.
• Examine machines and equipment to diagnose sources of trouble.
• Oversee repairs or PMs involving hand tools.
• Oversee local contractors to replace broken parts and re-assemble machines.
• Provide advice over the phone and travel for in-person inspections when needed.
• Make independent repair decisions in emergencies; engineers may authorize purchases.
• Create and maintain assessment reports on freezer conditions and plans.
• Train donor center employees to work with freezers including cleaning and de-icing.

Refrigeration Consultant

Remote/home based position

• Select and supervise outside contractors for on-site freezer installations
• Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of refrigeration equipment in a large geographical area
• Examine machines and mechanical equipment to diagnose source of trouble
• Oversee repairs or preventative maintenance orders (PMs) that mainly involve the use of hand tools
• Oversee local contractors to replace broken or defective parts; re-assembling machines and making all necessary adjustments for operation
• Provide advice both over the phone and travel for in-person inspection when necessary.
• In emergency situations, authorized to make independent decisions to repair or replace parts to keep operations working. Engineers can authorize purchases
• Create and maintain assessment reports to corporate regarding freezer conditions and plans
• Train donor center employees to effectively work with freezers including proper cleaning, de-icing and problem identification
• Position requires 25% - 35% travel to donor centers across the country and for team meetings

Education And Experience

• High school diploma or GED. Completion of an Air Conditioning / Refrigeration vocational program, trade school, college, or apprenticeship preferred. EPA certification preferred
• Must have a minimum of 3 years hands‑on experience repairing and troubleshooting refrigeration equipment in a Commercial / Industrial environment. Experience in a Pharmaceutical / Biotech environment a plus

Equivalency: Depending on the area of assignment, directly related experience or a combination of directly related education and experience and/or competencies may be considered in place of the stated requirements. Example: If a job level requires a Bachelor’s degree plus 4 years of experience, an equivalency could include 8 years of experience, an Associate’s degree with 6 years of experience, or a Master’s degree with 2 years of experience.

KNOWLEDGE | SKILLS | ABILITIES

• Extensive knowledge of refrigeration specifically freezers. Extensive knowledge of low and medium temperature Refrigeration & Air Conditioning applications.
• Must have strong trouble shooting abilities to identify and resolve equipment problems.
• Must be a self‑starter with the ability to work independently.
• Should be proactive and results oriented, with strong attention to detail and able to complete work in a timely manner.
• Must be a team player, capable of communicating professionally with all levels of personnel.

The estimated pay scale for Refrigeration Consultant role based is $85k - 120k per year.

Additionally, the position is eligible to participate in up to 8% of the company bonus pool.
