Refrigeration Apprentice Technician (Finance)

Overview

Thermo King of Houston is currently hiring a Refrigeration Apprentice Technician at 13513 Regional Drive, Laredo, TX 77029. Apprentice refrigeration technicians are responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing Thermo King reefer units, auxiliary power units (APUs), and heating units.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance (PM) on trailer, truck, Tripac, and Espar equipment.
• Replace or reinstall fuel filters, prime fuel systems, and start trailer and truck equipment.
• Replace, reinstall, or clean EGR valves, belts, batteries, alternators, water pumps, fuel pumps, starters, and heaters on various equipment.
• Install new units and equipment on trucks, trailers, Tripac, and Espar systems.
• Solder parts and use the Asset Library portal for manuals, software, customer lists, and labor guides.

Qualifications

Competencies:

• Basic mechanical knowledge & skills preferred.
• Knowledge of 4-cycle engines, Ohm's Law, electricity, and 12-volt DC systems preferred.
• Ability to use hand and power tools, diagnostic equipment, and read schematics.
• Must maintain Forklift Certification (training provided) and possess a valid driver license.

Education/Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 0-2 years of trade school or equivalent experience preferred.
• Must have or acquire necessary tools and maintain a forklift license.

Performance Requirements

• Work safely at all times.
• Maintain minimum productivity and attendance standards.
• Perform oil changes quickly and accurately.
• Work overtime as needed.

Physical Demands

• Perform manual labor including lifting up to 65 lbs, bending, walking, and working in various weather conditions.
• Stand for extended periods, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
• Exert force regularly, operate a vehicle, and work more than 8 hours when required.
• Follow safety protocols around hazardous materials and fumes.
