Gerdau is hiring a Refractory Operator to lay brick and refractory in electric-arc furnaces, ladles and tundishes, ensuring efficient and safe operation. The role requires 1-3 years in manufacturing with the ability to work early shifts and overtime as needed.

You will operate cranes, use pneumatic tools, and assist with maintenance and training while following PPE requirements and safety guidelines. The position offers a benefits package and growth opportunities within a global steel producer.

Qualifikationen

• 1-3 years industrial/manufacturing experience.
• Ability to work Monday - Friday, 4am to 1pm with some overtime and could involve occasional weekend work.
• General math skills, analytical skills, and ability to read charts, schedules, and use computer and touch screens.
• Ability to use adjustable controls in regulating the continuous process through interpretation of measuring instruments and gauges.
• Ability and willingness to work as part of a self-directed team with limited supervision.
• People leadership skills and ability to lead by example.

Aufgaben

• Lay refractory brick to build, rebuild, and re-line ladles, electric-arc furnaces, roofs, tundishes, and other steel-making vessels.
• Operate pendant crane to move refractory material as needed.
• Cut brick to size using pneumatic tools and ram material into walls, tundishes, etc.
