Job summary

Axalta Coating Systems in Brighton, MI, seeks a Coatings Application Specialist to support our Refinish GBT Technology Organization. You will execute experiments simulating customer shop conditions to resolve problems and optimize products.

This role requires 5+ years of application experience, strong spray skills, color matching, and ability to train technicians. You will collaborate with R&D, Sales, and Technical Service and travel to customer sites as needed.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of application experience in collision shop products.
• Excellent hand spray application skills with blending techniques.
• Train technicians in basic and advanced paint application.
• Understanding of color retrieval software and color measurement.
• Thorough knowledge of refinish repair steps: sanding, body filler, sealing, priming, top coating.
• Familiar with spray equipment used in the refinish industry.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Maintain knowledge of Axalta Refinish products and performance.
• Perform manual spray applications to simulate customer conditions.
• Prepare, spray, and evaluate refinish samples.
• Design and conduct experiments addressing customer issues.
• Document methods, results, and investigations; report data.
• Travel to customer and Axalta sites as required.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on testing and service.
• Support product development with R&D, Sales, and Technical Service.
